Tom Hank's son, Chet Hanks, opened up about him growing up as a son of a popular celebrity and shared that he never had a strong male role model during his teens despite growing up infamous and rich household. He shared the details of his famous double-edged sword livelihood in an introduction video for his YouTube channel on 15 February 2022 and 'The Truth About Growing Up As A Hanks' was the title given to that video.
He claimed in the video how there was no strong male role model who could tell him that all those people who spoke only with hate for him were jealous of him. He said that he needed to hear someone saying that all those people were jealous of him because he had all things they wanted so they made him feel low. He then advised his younger self to listen to what he was saying at that time. He also talked about hate and disrespect from his peers for his parents' wealth and fame.
Moreover, he shared that he was perceived as arrogant, entitled, and spoiled when in reality he said that he worked and earned everything that he had and was never given any money or allowance. He said that his parents never spoiled him and how others' perceptions of him in a negative way harmed him psychologically.
He even confessed that he had gone down a self-destructive road of dealing with his anger and resentment with self-destructing, pleasure-seeking through partying, drugs, alcohol substances, and everything.
Chet Hanks admitted that he has now changed from all those habits and with his launch of a fitness program called Hanx Fit, he shared that he truly felt that he no longer had anything to prove to anyone. Chet further said that he felt blessed, happy, and learned a lot about himself.
