Monroe Christine Lewis is the daughter of Jeff Lewis and Gage Edward. She was born through a surrogate mother. However, after Jeff’s split from his ex-partner Gage, they now share custody of the now four-year-old daughter.
Thanks to their recent custody settlement, the former came together this June 2021 to celebrate their daughter’s preschool graduation.
Who Are Her Parents?
After 26 “contentious” months, Jeff Lewis and ex-partner Gage Edward have finally reached a custody agreement. Moreover, they are also said to have dropped their lawsuits against each other. So now Jeff and Monroe are co-parenting their daughter Monroe Christine.
Before the agreement, Jeff and Gage had a heated battle for the custody of their daughter. Back in March of 2020, Jeff even claimed that he does not want his ex-partner to have equal time with their daughter Monroe and noted that she is “biologically my child.”
Jeff often updated how their legal proceedings were going on his Sirius XM Radio Show Jeff Lewis Live. He revealed that Edward served him with court documents requesting legal support, equal shared custody of Monroe, and a request to change her legal name from Monroe Christine Lewis to Monroe Christine Edward Lewis. Then Jeff claimed that their ongoing legal battle isn’t about custody but allegedly about money.

Despite Lewis’s clear frustration, he still said that Edward was “a good dad.” Still, he told his listeners of the SiriusXM radio, he has Monroe’s “best interest” at heart and wants stability for her.
A few weeks later, Gage also opened up about how he is parenting his daughter Monroe as a single father at the time. He publicly addressed during an Instagram Live on April 2020 amid his tumultuous custody battle with ex Jeff Lewis and discussed his relationship with Monroe, sharing that it’s “an amazing thing to watch” she learn and grow.
Jeff and Gage initially separated in January 2019 before Jeff announced they had officially split in February that year. They had an informal shared custody arrangement that they coordinated themselves at the time. Still, when, according to Jeff, communication, and goodwill between the pair began to break down, they involved their lawyers in trying to create an official custody deal, which took a long time to be finalized.
After a long, tumultuous custody battle between the ex-partners, both of them shared a surprising update of it on their respective perspectives. First, Jeff spoke on an episode of Jeff Lewis Live in February of 2021, as he revealed that he and Gage had dinner on a Friday night. Gage then confirmed the two of them have “started to heal” and noted that he is “optimistic” about his and Jeff’s future co-parenting relationship for their four-year-old daughter, Monroe Christine.
Jeff disclosed, via PEOPLE:
“There were fifteen minutes of the past, fifteen minutes of ‘I regret’, ‘I’m sorry’… It was mostly focused on the present. I know I’ve changed. I know he’s changed. Whatever this is, it’s a good thing.”
Months later, Gage claims he and Jeff have started the process of healing as they remained focused on their common goal of raising their daughter. “I think Jeff and I have started to heal from what has happened in our past,” Gage told PEOPLE on February 23 of 2021.
“Our most important focus is raising our daughter in a loving environment and we are learning how to co-parent as effectively as we both can for her sake. I am optimistic.”
Their daughter Monroe Christine was brought up through a surrogate mother, Alexandra Trent. They filmed the whole process of Trent’s conception, gestation, and birth, to feature it on their TV show, Flipping Out.
Parents Celebrate Her Pre-School Graduation
On June 17, 2021, Jeff shared a photo on Instagram with his daughter Monroe Christine and ex-partner Gage Edward, with whom he shares custody of the 4-year-old.
They came together for a celebration of their daughter’s preschool graduation. “Congrats to the graduate. The hardest years are behind you,” Jeff captioned the photo as their young daughter held up her diploma.
Gage shared another adorable photo of himself and Monroe from the big day on his Instagram, captioning the picture with a graduation cap emoji.
This family reunion comes nearly a month after Jeff announced his SiriusXM radio show that he and Gege had “settled our custody agreement,” PEOPLE reported in May 2021.
Who Is Monroe Christian Lewis?
Monroe Christine Lewis was born on 25 October 2016.
Back in 2019, Jeff and Gage were looking for a new preschool for Monroe after being expelled from the prestigious Montessori preschool she had been attending. And months later, after Jeff changed her preschool, on an episode of his SiriusXM radio show Jeff Lewis Live, Jeff discussed going to pick up Monroe from school alongside ex Scott Anderson.
After they arrived at Monroe’s school, they found themselves in a bit of an unexpected situation that was anything but light. “Out come the two administrators [without] Monroe, and I’m like, ‘What the f---?’ and they say, ‘Can we talk to you for a minute? … We’re very concerned about Monroe. We’re concerned about her behavior,’” recalled Jeff. “’ She’s been crying, she’s confused, she doesn’t know who’s picking her up … there’s been a little bit of a regression.’”
Nonetheless, the predicament has come to have been passed by them as it seems Jeff and Gage agreed upon a co-parenting agreement for their custody battle. Moreover, Monroe has recently graduated from her preschool, and her recent pictures with her parents on their respective social media show that they are happier than ever.
Back in October 2017, Jeff and Gage celebrated their daughter Monroe Christine’s very first birthday. Jeff commemorated the happy occasion by posting an adorable new photo of Monroe on Instagram, captioning, “Happy birthday, Monroe! Love Daddy.”
