The TV chef, Nadiya Hussain, has been open about her mental health and her struggles with it in many interviews. She has talked about her anxiety and panic disorder and fighting with it for the past 20 years.
Many got confused with how Nadiya has a perfect family and had a fairy tale marriage, but Nadiya has discussed her life, saying she has good and bad days and doesn’t even want to get dressed on some days.
Nadiya has documented her mental health history on her website, explaining her life before entering The Great British Bake Off, and said, “Packed and ready to film my first episode, it became a day of many first for me. It was my first time in a taxi alone, first time on a train alone, first time on the subway alone, first time without my husband to assist me, and first time without my children. Through the missed trains, sweaty pits, and quiet tears, my anxiety grew stronger.”
The TV personality has discussed her condition in greater detail along with her structured routines and the activities that she has found to be the most effective at distracting her from her constant worry. Nadiya has explained in her BBC documentary, “A panic attack makes me feel like I'm going to die. Imagine living your whole life thinking you’re going to die every day.”
The British-Bangladeshi TV chef has recently been involved in supporting a WaterAid campaign in Nepal that aims to provide clean water and toilets to schools which ensures the personal hygiene of young children and students.
Nadiya Hussain Married Life With Husband Abdal
Nadiya Hussain has a caring and loving husband whom she met only once before marriage. His name is Abdal, and he had an arranged marriage when she was only 19 years old in 2004. The singer revealed, “I didn’t see him very well but my sisters did and they went downstairs and said ‘oh my god he’s so good looking nut he’s got an enormous butt. So now, when I met him for the first time, the first thing I wanted to look at was his butt. So I was like I've got to check if this a*** is huge as I think it is.”
Her husband, Abdal, was a technical manager at a Computer Sciences Corporation based in Leeds when she participated in the show. She had shared his devotion to her at the time of her competition in the show, saying, “He irons clothes now, feeds the kids and does the dishes. No relationship is 50/50 as someone always gives a little bit more. At the moment he’s the one giving a lot more.”
The TV chef got remarried her husband, Abdal, in December 2018, which is 14 years after their original Islamic wedding ceremony, and shared photos of their remarriage on her social media accounts with the caption, “Nothing fancy just love. No frills. Just us. We did it again. I do. I always will. I would do it all over again. #married #secondtime @swarovski @whiskdrizzle @abumdum.”
Nadiya had shared about her first wedding day in The Chronicles of Nadiya documentary, saying it was the worst day of her life and shared that one of the unspoken rules of a bride is to behave submissively and look downcast.
However, she has shared her excitement about getting remarried to her husband as they got married Islamically but had never done the proper vows. She had said in 2017, “I’ll just have a good old time. I want to wear a nice dress and I want a cake that I didn’t bake! I want somebody else to go to all that effort for me, and I want to wear a lovely dress that I've chosen.”
Nadiya shares three beautiful kids with her husband of 15 years, and they are Musa Hussain, Dawud Hussain, and Maryam Hussain. Their oldest, Musa, was born in 2006 and loved to eat a Pad Thai bowl on his birthday.
Their middle child, Dawud Hussain, was born in 2007 and loved to play drums, and is a jokester among the three siblings.
Then their beautiful youngest daughter, Maryam, was born in 2010, and she loves the theater, having played Cosette in Milton Keynes Theatre’s production of Les Miserables.
