Canadian-American actress Nia Vardalos, who lost her father Constantine Vardalos on 12 March 2020, missed her father's funeral due to the running pandemic Coronavirus.
Her dad Constantine was hospitalized before he demised at the age of 87. And due to the travel restrictions in the United States and Canada with concern over Coronavirus, she missed her father's funeral on 21 March 2020.
Grey's Anatomy star last met her father during the Christmas holiday back in December 2019, when Constantine's health had a gradual decline. She also had mentioned the death of her dad on Instagram, where she wrote that Constantine gently passed away on 12 March 2020.

Nia Vardalos, age 57, is the daughter of Greek-Canadian parents, Constantine Vardalos and Doreen Christakis. Her late father, Constantine, was an actor with his role as a Church Chanter in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2. Besides, he was a land developer.

Similarly, her mother, Doreen, was a bookkeeper and homemaker. Born and raised in Greece, both Constantine and Doreen immigrated to Canada in search of a career.
Nia was born as Antonia Eugenia Vardalos on 24 September 1962 in Winnipeg, Canada. She was named after her grandmother, grandmothers Eugenia and Antonia. She is a graduate of Ryerson University's School Of Acting.

They got married on 5 September 1993 in Winnipeg's St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Before the wedding, Ian converted himself into Greek Orthodox religion. Together, they adopted a daughter named Illaria in 2008.
