Disconnecting in online games has had many negative consequences for players who play in a team. Some people take the game seriously, and some play just for fun. Many people play games for boredom, but several gamers take it seriously.
But some players mostly disconnect themselves in an online game for their selfish purpose for easier games or stay at a certain rank. These cheaters don't care about other people and ruin their fun doing whatever they like.
Those players who disconnect online mainly do for fun out of boredom, since some players play the games seriously, which they feel like they aren't using their times for greater good of their lifetime.
One of the famous games of all time Pokemon Sword and Shield franchise which was released on 15 November 2019 also fell in the grasps of cheaters.
The game was being exploited due to glitches and bugs. Even the newest franchise was not immune to these exploits. The bug which was discovered in the Pokemon Sword/Shield franchise allowed the users to manipulate the results of online matches by powering down the switch console into sleep mode.
While in a team, players deliberately disconnected themselves, and the players who play as a team neither deprived themselves of points nor the winner gain any profits as well.
So, inspecting Pokemon Sword and Shield sales that recorded 17.37 million units worldwide as of 2020, these things were taken very seriously by The Pokemon Company.
The Pokemon Company Would Ban Player If They Disconnect From Online Battle
The Pokemon Company has already unveiled a serious warning to those players who deliberately disconnect themselves that they will be banned from doing online matches.
It stated these following warning for the players who disconnect themselves frequently in online battles.
"We are able to confirm that a number of players have been disconnecting from the Internet to manipulate their win/loss records for online battles and tournaments.
From now on, if we determine that players abuse this bug for their own gain in online battles and tournaments, we will not hesitate to temporarily ban or even permanently ban players from accessing online play in Pokemon Sword and Shield."
Previously, on 5 April 2020, the developer also posted an update on the situation, stating that players who enrolled themselves in online matches with an unpredictable internet connection and constantly disconnected could be punished or restrained from future online events. So, the outcome is based not only on bugs but with technical issues as well, such as an internet connection.
Another major update stated by The Pokemon Company was:
"Removing a trainer's use of all internet associated activities while playing Pokemon Sword and Shield will be also put into consideration. We promised to continually monitor any other "malicious operations" so players can enjoy the game as it was intended".
According to the website Pokemon-Matome, these penalties are commencing to operate on a wild scale. These penalties that the company offered meaned serious business and it's appropriate for the players who deliberately disconnect themselves online while in team play. Players who disconnect themselves before a loss is considered cheating and will be punished severely.
Learn The Lesson: Take the competition seriously and never ruin others game solely for your fun.
