What can we expect in the world of anime this Spring 2020?

Well, we can see the return of some of the fabulous sequels that are going to keep us entertained this whole year. Whether it is 'Isekai' or 'Slice of Life,' it will be our pleasure to watch the highly-anticipated sequels that make 2020 a great year for anime.

Here are the list of 10 anime protagonists with antisocial or either antihero characters.

1) SAO Alicization: War of the Underworld (Part 2)

Sword Art Online takes place in a virtual reality MMORPG, where the players get trapped inside the fantasy world. The sequel focuses on the lead characters Kirigaya Kazuto (Kirito) and Yuuki Asuna, where they struggle hard to clear the game so that they can go back to their real world.

SAO is comprised of several sequels starting from 'Aincrad' and 'Fairy Dance' Arc in the first season, which aired from July 8, 2012, to December 23, 2012. The second sequel consisting of the 'Phantom Bullet' and 'Mother Rosario' Arc aired from July 5, 2014, to December 20, 2014. The third sequel known as 'Project Alicization' aired from October 6, 2018, to March 30, 2019.

After the booming run of the Project Alicization series, the first half of Sword Art Online(SAO) Alicization: War of the Underworld premiered on October 12, 2019. Its sequel ended on December 28, 2019, with a recap episode describing the first half of the SAO Project Alicization.

The prequel of the second half of 'SAO Alicization: War of the Underworld - Part 2' will air on April 26, 2020.

2) Shokugeki no Soma: Gou no Sara (Fifth Season)

Over the past four seasons, the cuisine series Shokugeki no Soma has risen to the list of one of the most delectable food animation series. Based on the competitive culinary academy in Japan, the famous Japanese shônen manga series tracks an age group of young chefs challenging with each other in cooking showdowns known as Shokugeki.

The first season of Shokugeki no Soma consisting of 24 episodes aired on April 4, 2014, and ended its series on September 26, 2015. After the successful hit, the series continued the second season named 'Shokugeki no Soma: Ni no Sara,' consisting of 13 episodes that aired from July 2 to September 24, 2016.

Similarly, the third season of Shokugeki no Soma comprising of 24 episodes aired from October 4, 2017, to June 25, 2018. The fourth season made its debut on October 12, 2019, to December 28, 2019. After the consecutive unbeaten run, the anime is continuing its fifth series named 'Shokugeki no Soma: Go no Sara.' It was announced during Juni Fiesta 2020, held in Makuhari Messe in Chiba on December 22, 2019.

The fifth season of Food Wars named 'Shokugeki no Soma: Go no Sara' is making its return on April 11, 2020.

3) Oregairu (Third Season)

Oregairu, also known as 'Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru,' is a Japanese light novel series by Watari Wataru based on school, drama, and romance is making its return.

The story revolves around Hachiman Hikigaya and Yuikinoshita Yukino, who have their varied principles and personalities. They are tasked to offer help and guidance to other clubs and members as a part of their school's service club accompanied by joyful and friendly Yui Yuigahama.

The first season of the series comprising of 13 episodes, including OVA aired from April 5, 2013, to June 28, 2013. After the successful hit, the second season of the anime began airing from April 3, 2015, to June 26, 2015.

After the long anticipation, the third season of Oregairu is scheduled to be released on April 10, 2020.

4) Konosuba (Third Season)

Based on a light novel series, Konosuba's plot revolves around a boy Kazuma Sato, who is sent to a fantasy world of magic following his death, where he gets tangled with a wizard, crusader, and a goddess. They form a dysfunctional party to fight the monsters and demons.

This hilarious comedy action-packed anime debuted its first season from January 14, 2016, to March 16, 2016. The second season of Konosuba premiered on January 12, 2017, to March 16, 2017.

After the impressive rundown of two seasons of the series, Konosuba is releasing its third season in spring 2020, but the official date is yet to be confirmed.

5) Kaguya Sama: Love Is War (Second Season)

Based on a Japanese light novel series, Aka Akasaka is the author of Kaguya Sama: Love Is War. The story revolves around Miyuki Shirogane, aka student council president and Kaguya Shinomiya, a vice president where the duo likes and adores each other. The story is unfolded by many hilarious schemes and comedies to make each other confess their love.

The series was made into an anime adaptation sequel by A-1 Pictures, which debuted its airing from January 12, 2019, until March 30, 2019. Since the release of the first season, the manga had published and sold out more than 9 million copies in print and has even won the 65th Shogakukan manga prize.

The second season of Kaguya Sama: Love Is War is set to premiere on April 11, 2020.

6) Fruits Basket (Second Season)

The anime Fruits Basket is a Japanese shoujo manga based on comedy, romance, and a slice of life. It depicts the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Kyo, Yuki and Shigure, learns that the animals of the Chinese zodiac enchant the twelve members of the Sohma family.

They are doomed to turn into their animal forms when they are frail, stressed out, or when they are cuddled by anyone of the opposite sex that is not enchanted by a zodiacal spirit. As the series progresses, Tohru learns of the hardships and pain faced by the afflicted Sohmas, and through her own bighearted and caring nature, helps to heal their affected wounds.

The innovative variation of Fruits Baskets comprising 26 episodes got released on December 27, 2001. The first season with 25 long episodes aired from March 16, 2019, to September 21, 2019.

The second season of Fruits Basket will premiere on April 7, 2020.

7) Tsugumomo (Second Season)

Tsugumomo is a Japanese manga series based on comedy, drama, and romance. The manga was adapted into an anime TV series, which was announced at a wraparound band on the 18th volume on September 12, 2016.

The sequel focuses on Kazuya Kagami, who treasures a souvenir he received from his mother. One day, he understands the true power of the souvenir and is drawn into a new world consisting of a harem of beautiful women. The first season comprising of 12 episodes ran from April 3, 2017, to June 19, 2017. 

The second season of Tsugamomo named Tsugu Tsugumomo is set to premiere on April 5, 2020.

8) Granblue Fantasy Djeeta Hen Special "One More Journey"

Granblue fantasy is an anime adapted from the Granblue fantasy video game series. The anime series based on action, adventure, and drama aired from April 2, 2017, until June 25, 2017. The story follows the same plot as of gameplay of Granblue Fantasy.

MAPPA portrayed the second season for Granblue fantasy, which aired from October 4 to December 27, 2019, comprising of 12 episodes. The second season was sponsored by Umemoto Yui, a new play writer as Yoshimura Kiyoko.

The extra addition of episode of Granblue Fantasy named Djeeta Hen Special "One More Journey" is going to be air on March 28, 2020.

9) Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta Ken (OVA)

Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta ken is a Japanese fantasy light novel series based on action, comedy, and drama. The story focuses on Rimuru tempest that got divine protection from Veldora Tempest, a storm dragon who bestows him his name. In addition to his newly found skills "predator," which allows him to consume everything and mimic its appearance and abilities, he embarks on a quest to prove his worth.

The first season of Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta ken comprising of 24 episodes aired from October 2, 2018, to March 19, 2019. After the successful hit of the anime franchise, the second season is scheduled for fall 2020.

Before the second season, Tensei Shitara Suraimu Datta ken is set to release the OVA on March 27, 2020. The un-aired episodes will unbundle the 12th, 13th, 14th, and 15th manga volumes with the plot of the sumo competition held at the tempest federation suggested by Rimuru.

10) Strike The Blood (Fourth OVA)

Japanese light novel series Strike The Blood is based on monsters, action, drama, and romance. The story revolves around an ordinary high school student Akatsuki Kojo who becomes the fourth progenitor, a powerful vampire who can summon monsters through acquiring blood from others.

Akatsuki Kojo is unwilling to using his powers since he doesn't agree to drink blood from others. A girl named Himeragi Yukina is assigned to monitor him, who is a neophyte sword shaman. She is assigned to kill Akatsuki if he poses a risk to humanity.

The first season of Strike The Blood consisted of 24 episodes, and it aired from October 4, 2013, to March 28, 2014. Original video animation (OVA) titled 'Strike The Blood 2' aired from November 2016 to May 2017. A third series of the OVA began its serialization from December 2018 to September 2019.

Now, the fourth series of Strike The Blood OVA is set to be released in April 2020.
