Hunter McGrady Opens About Being Nervous Talking About Her Pregnancy

Hunter McGrady is a 28-year-old model and social media influencer who is popular for her stories of her struggles in the modeling industry.

The model has opened about why she was nervous to tell her doctors about being pregnant in an interview with Health. She shared, “Before pregnancy, society kept telling me that my body was unhealthy and that I’d have a hard time getting pregnant or staying pregnant. Every doctor’s appointment, I was so nervous. I’ve become more bold when it comes to my body and doctors. In the past, I’d go in for an earache and they’d say, ‘You should lose weight.’ So, early in my pregnancy, I told my doctor that I didn’t want to discuss my weight unless it became a real issue to me or the baby.”

She continued to discuss how her eating disorder got her anxieties to look at the number of weighing scales saying, “When I’d get on the scale, I’d tell them I didn’t want to know the number. As someone who came from disordered eating, I’ve worked too long and hard to care about what that number is. My doctor was on board with it, and I had a healthy pregnancy until the end, when I got preeclampsia.”

She has also discussed her struggles in her rookie years of getting body shamed by modeling agents and how she needed help mentally to come back stronger and become who she is today. With Health magazine, Hunter has shared, “I’m 6 feet tall, and back then, I was a size 2 and 114 pounds. I was very thin, and I tried to be that thin. I was just like, ‘Let me see how thin I can get.’ I hadn’t even fully gone through puberty yet. I went into agencies, and every single agent kept telling me, ‘You’re great, we love you. If you can just lose a little bit more, we’ll sign you.”

However, she recalled that one time when she was the thinnest she’s ever been and booked a job which affected her mental health badly. She was rejected by that stretchy t-shirt company saying they didn’t realize how big she was and didn’t even gave her an option to try anything on. She remembered how she felt emotionally and dealt with anxiety and depression and admitted getting therapy that changed herself and began to love her body. She said, “Mentally, I knew I needed help. I really had to learn about my body and learn how to nourish it and love it again.”
