Former World Champion Jon Moxley has returned to AEW as he was featured on Wednesday's night episode with AEW TNT Champion Cody Rhodes. Jon Moxley made his long-awaited AEW return on Dynamite and was welcomed with an enormous ovation from fans at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington, D.C.
Many fans and people were pleased to see the former World Champion Jon back in amazing shape as he looked incredible. Jon Moxley had stepped away from AEW for nearly three months to get treated for his personal issues. He had entered an inpatient alcohol treatment program early in November. So, the AEW wrestler looked all slimmed down and had his hair grown out when he made his return to AEW on Wednesday night's episode.
Jon Moxley made an emotional speech on his return saying that he remembered a bad dream where he met a black cloud that tried to undermine his achievements and said, "The kind of demon that follows you around your whole life, the kind of demon that follows you around for years. These demons come in all shapes and sizes for everybody."
He further explained, "This cloud is laughing at me, and says, 'Everything that you are, everything that you've become, everything you have in your life that's good....none fo that was supposed to happen. None of that belongs to you. Where do you get off thinking you were gonna make out with all that?"
The former World Champion then recalled demon asking him if he really thought he'd make it out and when he woke up he got his attention on people's scars, both physical and on the inside saying, "The important ones are the scars we carry on the inside, that are harder to see. Sometimes we try and cover up these scars we should be proud of."
He added how those scars tell our story and give us strength making us the people we are. He said, "Now, nobody's perfect all right? If everybody was perfect, the world would be a very boring place. Nobody, no matter who you are, should be afraid to step in front of the whole world and bear it all. Everything that makes you the person that you are, scars and all, and say, 'Hey! This is me!"
He also had some words for people who still doubt him saying that he will not run from demons and just beat the s**t out of them and Jon also thanked everyone who supported him and had his back saying, "Buckle up and get ready because we're going on a ride, baby, in the year of 2022 - I am going on a pilgrimage."
Jon also talked about his journey from recovery and said that he wouldn't recommend it but it was very liberating and explained, "So, if there's anybody in AEW, anybody all around the world that thinks they can put me through more hell than I've already been through, know this - I'm thirsty. You thought I was dangerous, before? S**t - these days, all I drink is blood!"
