FBI arrested Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell on 2 July 2020 in Bradford, England. She is accused of the charges of conspiring her former lover Epstein to abuse minors sexually. During the arrest, she was at her luxury home with 156 acres of rural mountainside property.
Andrea Johnstone, the Magistrate judge, asked Maxwell whether she understood her rights using phrases like 'I Do.' She then ordered the transportation of Maxwell to New York. Her case is in the proceedings, and she will be in custody during the time of her case dealing in New York.
As per the allegations, Maxwell helped her former (late) boyfriend Epstein to identify, befriend and groom minor victims for sexual misconduct. And she was a part of three abuse of the underaged girls as well. Going back to 1994 and ahead, reports claim that Maxwell aided Epstein in his crime to groom the victims of around 14 years old.
One of the girls named Virginia Roberts Giuffre brought the case into the light with a defamation lawsuit in 2015.
The Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss mentioned that the arrest of Ghislaine Maxwell is a prequel of charges previously brought against Jeffrey Epstein, DailyMail reports. FBI said they had been tracking her actions for some time before her arrest though her acts were not indicted back on 29 June.

Ghislaine Maxwell's lover Jeffrey Epstein was a registered sex offender who got arrested back in summer 2019 with federal charges of exploiting dozens of underage girls in New York and Florida. He attempted suicide in custody in June 2019 and later died in his second attempt in early August 2019.
Just a day before Epstein's death, the federal court released a transcript of a 2016 deposition, where he (Epstein) had refused to disclose if Maxwell supported him for the crime. And now, Maxwell will deal with multiple counts of perjury for allegedly lying about Epstein's sexual crimes in her defamation.
In the lawsuits she filed previously, she denied all the wrongdoings. However, it has come to acknowledgment that her appeals were false acclaims.
Despite her arrest, there has not been any scheduled date for her arraignment.

She moved to the United States after the death of her father, where she met Jeffrey Epstein. The two worked as a companion for years managing the household tasks of Jeffrey's company.
