The Jamaican singer Richie Stephens denied all the accusations of rape made by General Ling, who was part of his entourage in a four-minute-long video. The singer explained that the 27-year-old woman was trying to use the allegations to make a name for herself. He had admitted that she was on tour with him in 2019 but denied his involvement with her in any way.
According to Richie, some of what Elaine Lim, the accuser, said was true, and some were false. They were on tour in 2019 in Australia. Based on her report to the police against him, he was detained for investigation. Lim did a rape kit; however, the investigation should the allegations were baseless.
The artist added, “ You know what is true, I am really sorry for her, to know that she would go that far to try and get some recognition . we’re living in a time here they believe that likes is far more important than the truth and we’re here to bring the truth out.”
He said, “ She claimed I came back to Jamaica and ran to the media and give them fabricated stories, I have not done one interview, I haven’t posted a video. The only thing is that my attorney Christopher Townsend wrote a letter which I posted to my IG.”
On the other hand, Lim made the rape accusations via a 25 minute long Youtube video titled “TW: The truth about Richie Stephens in Australia 2019,” where she accused him of raping her. She explained in the video that her motive was the truth to be known and that whatever was done to her was to be known. She started saying the incident happened on the 12th and 13th of November 2019 in Melbourne, Australia.
She said that he raped her after her friend left to go to the studio, and she stayed behind to edit a music video. General Lim described herself as a shell after the incident and as a survivor got the blame herself.
