Sayfullo was listed as a motor carrier in a department of Transport database in 2013, and his acquaintance described him as nervous without any signs of radicalization. Saipov was also described as an aggressive young man with a romantic sense of adventure. Sayfullo had only four traffic tickets in his criminal history.
However, on 31 October 2017, Saipov drove a Home Depot pickup truck into a bicycle path on the West Side Highway of Manhattan, New York City. He then exited the vehicle and started firing a pellet gun. Saipov then shouted 'Allahu Akbar and crashed his pickup truck into a special education school bus. Ultimately, the terrorist attack left eight eighteen and 11 injured on 31 October 2017. He was shot in the abdomen by the NYPD and taken into custody.
