The co-creator of Saturday Night Live has shared that Lorne Michaels might be leaving the show in 2024 after the 50th anniversary season, which will begin in 2024.
CBS News reported that Lorne has considered departing from the long-running sketch comedy series and said, “You know, I think I’m committed to doing this show until its 5th anniversary which is in three years. I’d like to see that through and I have a feeling that’d be a really good time to leave. But I won’t want the show ever to be bad. I care too deeply about it. It’s been my life’s work. So I’m going to do everything I can to see it carry on.”
The host of CBS Mornings, Gayle King, asked him about the possibility of SNL without him, and Michael replied, “I have a sense of where we’re headed with that, you know “
He was asked about who would be taking over him, to which he replied, “I’m not going to go on about it. It’s three years away.”
