Alexander Smirnov Arrested
Alexander Smirnov was arrested at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on 14 February 2024 after arriving in the U.S. from overseas. His initial appearance was scheduled for 15 February 2024. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
All of this started during the 2020 campaign. During that time, he sent his F.B.I. handler a series of messages expressing bias against Joe Biden Jr., boasting that he had information that would put him in jail. As per records, Smirnov had been a confidential human source for the FBI since 2010. However, he provided false derogatory information to the FBI about both Bidens after Joe Biden became a candidate for president in 2020.
Apart from that, Alexander was told at least seven times he may have to testify about information he provided to the FBI and was admonished by the handler at least 21 times, to tell the truth to the bureau.
